If the world is a rose

10 March 2010 § Leave a comment

If the world is a rose,
Am i the
perfidious lover?
expectant beauty?
sedulous gardener?
distant yearner?

If the world is a language,
Am i the
colloquial conversationalist?
academic analyst?
deaf sister?
rapt tragedian?

If the world is a train station,
Am i the
cosmopolitan aesthete?
wide-eyed neophyte?
weary ticket-master?
teary handkerchief-wielder?

When my eyes are not open i truly believe,
And the things that i see when i’m looking at Thee
Are the way that my feet know to tread.
