body and soul

26 March 2010 § 1 Comment

Between the inches of my skin
there are solids and liquids
that mash around and let me be here

(in this place where we live, this earth-
place that receives us like a new-baby crib)

But don’t you see the glory behind it all?
here i am, ME, not the stuff of me

(right here because of stuff though;
isn’t it a lot of trouble to haul around?

because we don’t have enough sight between our skin;
we peer out windows at the ground,
at the bird masquerades,
and never open them and fly)
and these squiggles i arrange make

images in you
(not in the stuff of you of course)
